Job Specification

Objectives:

n   Actively prospect and uncover new business opportunities within specified accounts/territory

n   Achieve individual (annual) sales target and agreed goals

n   Establish new client relationships

n   Build relationships with key decision makers at target accounts and maintain a high level of understanding of the decision-making process within target sponsors

n   Develop and execute sales plan for assigned accounts/territory

n   Collaborate with marketing team to build brand awareness and implement campaigns for assigned territory

n   Coordinate with proposal team to develop winning proposals that meet customers’ requirements

n   Communicate regularly with operational colleagues to secure repeat business

n   Lead entire sales process from RFP, through bid defence to award and contract handover

n   Attend client meetings and industry conferences to secure new leads (RFIs and RFPs)

n   Support fellow team members as required to secure new and repeat business

Procedures:

n   Prospect clients to develop new business opportunities (build pipeline)

n   Provide weekly/quarterly business development updates

n   Attend regular pipeline teleconferences to provide updates

n   Travel to client meetings and industry conferences/events

n   Attend and exhibit/network at industry events

n   Co-ordinate, prepare, support/lead client presentations (e.g. General Capability, Bid Defences, Governance Meetings)

n   Review, comment and provide input into proposals for new business opportunities

n   Develop and manage successful client relationships

n   Build and maintain relationships with vendors/partners to improve win success in bids

n   Ensure client information in the CRM (Salesforce) is kept up to date

n   Perform additional relevant responsibilities as required by Line Manager

 

Person Specification

Education:

n   Degree in business or life sciences or demonstrates a combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

Work Experience (Minimum):

n   Minimum 3 years sales experience

n   Demonstrable competency in sales/business development preferably for a Contract Research Organisation or company providing services to the biotech, pharma or healthcare industry

Skills:

n   Successful sales experience and knowledge

n   The ability to identify and develop sales leads, professionally present capabilities, manage the sales process through close

n   Strategic business awareness and results orientation

n   Ability to work independently and in a multi-functional team environment

n   Highly motivated and driven to succeed

n   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

n   Excellent negotiation skills

n   Excellent time management skills - highly efficient and organised, able to meet deadlines and prioritise work

n   High-level skills in Microsoft Office

n   Sales Tools / CRM (e.g. Salesforce) experience

n   Ability and willingness to frequently travel (Internationally and Domestic)

n   Fluent English (written and spoken)
