Overview

This position offers a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated Statistics department which includes consultancy to our clients on areas ranging from study design to reports and manuscripts; expertise in analytical approaches applied to clinical trials, preclinical and post-marketing studies; programming efficiency and statistical reporting, CDISC and regulatory expertise, and exploratory analyses.

 

You will gain exposure to a broad range of clinical trial studies, working across Phases I-IV in a wide variety of therapeutic areas. Working as part of local and global project teams, you will have the opportunity to work on high profile, global studies for major pharmaceutical clients.

Responsibilities

  • Ultimate responsibility and accountability for the leadership, development and direction of the Statistical Consultancy Business Unit and the Operational Statistics team to ensure the highest quality delivery, industry leading client focus, maximised billability and industry leading reputation.
  • To lead, develop and give direction to the Statistical Consultancy Business Unit to deliver a high value contribution to the various clients being supported that allows the business unit to achieve its financial targets (profit and turnover), continually grow the portfolio of business the client expects Quanticate to deliver, provide the first point of contact to the client’s statistical teams and make the best use of resources whilst meeting or exceeding customer care, time and quality
  • To lead, develop, and give direction to Statisticians working within operational client portfolios.
  • To develop a model of collaboration with academics in Statistics

General

  • Provide statistical leadership to client projects, ensuring high levels of customer care and delivery
  • Accountable for the management and oversight of the Statistical Consultancy Business Unit, ensuring high levels of customer care and effective coordination of projects whilst achieving Profit and Loss expectations for the department  through growing revenue and establishing and maintaining a realistic budget for all direct costs.
  • Accountable for ensuring the Statistical Consultancy Business Unit achieve the financial targets set for revenue earned, billability and profit margins and turnover  through the generation  of high revenue per statistician from efficient and effective assignment of personnel to project work
  • Accountable for ensuring a high quality statistical  contribution to all Clinical Drug Projects that conforms to current Quanticate and client-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes, as well as applicable regulatory requirements and/or guidelines on behalf of all clients.
  • Develop the reputation of the Statistical Consultancy Business Unit within the client teams to be the provider of choice for statistics services to them and as an excellent employment choice for statisticians. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the growth of the Statistical Consultancy Business Unit headcount levels to meet new opportunities through the recruitment of excellent staff that will be able to fulfil their potential within Quanticate.
  • Perform annual and interim reviews in accordance with HR processes and SOPs for direct reports, and ensure competency assessments are completed for all statisticians.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the external regulatory environment relating to statistics, including ICH/GCP requirements, and provide expert advice and educate the client on changes to regulatory requirements and/or other guidelines relating to statistics.
  • Help to support the advancement of the company’s statistical reputation through conference participation, writing and editing articles, and supporting marketing initiatives to promote technical leadership
  • To ensure direct reports are 100% QTP compliant and that this is consistently applied across statistics.
  • Develop and implement function specific retention initiatives.
  • To drive talent management and succession planning across the functions.
  • To actively participate in and support employee engagement initiatives
  • As a senior leader in the business, contribute as appropriate to ensure the overall success of Quanticate

 

Key Contacts/Relationships

Internal

 

  • Line Manager for FSP Statistical Leads and Principal Consultant Statisticians in Statistical Consultancy to lead and guide them in their development and growth in line with Quanticate’s strategy and objectives
  • Colleague relationship with key Contracts and Proposals staff for the input into proposals, review of proposals and writing proposals for consultancy opportunities
  • Colleague relationship with Portfolio Leaders, who will be directly managing operational statisticians working on client projects
  • Colleague relationships with Resourcing Managers for the coordination of Statistical Consultancy resource allocation, authorising recruitment of statisticians and collaboration on implementing ‘ramp up’ strategies.

 

External

  • Head of Statistics will have a significant amount of contact and network building with potential new and existing clients through a consultative approach.
  • Head of Statistics may be needed to participate in client bid defences.
  • Head of Statistics will be expected to build external academic links through collaboration

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Qualified to PhD level in a mathematical background including statistics
  • Relevant past experience within the pharmaceutical industry or medical sector and an excellent understanding of statistical methods including Bayesian and Adaptive Statistics.
  • Fifteen or more years experience working as a statistician, including at least 5 years in the CRO environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process.
  • Proven leadership and management skills promoting motivation and empowerment of others in order to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives.
  • Excellent commercial understanding with the ability to interface and work closely with all other business functions.
  • Dedicated team player with proven ability to form good relationships at all levels of business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a global and regional environment.
  • Willingness to travel both domestic and internationally. If home based, would be expected to visit the office at least a couple of times a month.
